Were you wondering where Dion Cornett was? Me too. Then I got an email from him that he's joined Red Hat as Vice President of Investor Relations.
The email announcing it to Red Hat's Investor Relations distribution list says: Dion brings to Red Hat almost 10 years of Wall Street experience.
In the last 2 years, he has focused his research on Open Source software and
has followed Red Hat since early 2003. He has a deep knowledge of Red Hat's
business and technologies, our business/financial model, and the
marketplace.
Prior to his tenure on Wall Street, Dion was a regional manager for Nalco
and served as a Submarine Officer in the US Navy. Dion graduated with honors
from the US Naval Academy with a degree in Electrical Engineering and
attained a Masters in Business Administration from Northwestern University's
Kellogg Graduate School of Management, where he graduated with distinction. . . .
Dion will be based in Red Hat's corporate
headquarters in Raleigh, NC.
So, now you know. I am thrilled for Dion, and he's mighty happy too, I gather. By the way, he says thank you to the Groklaw community. "I appreciate how supportive
the Groklaw community has been of my past efforts," he told me, "and I really owe them a word
of thanks for all the information and insight they provided me as an
analyst."

Congratulations Dion. It is a gain for Red Hat and a loss for the financial
reporting community. I have missed hearing from you.

This is an odd announcement... but a good one.
This is great for both him and RedHat. A learning experience about a new
business model for him, and a possible windfall of investment for RH.
Congrats to both!

When you think about it, that's probably a relief for SCOX, considering the way
Dion used to report on them.
I wonder who will step up to the plate to keep the financial glare on SCOX
happenings.
