Just a quick note to let you know you might like to hop and skip on over to UserFriendly today. I believe SCO has started something that's bigger than the both of us.

I wonder.... will they now decide they have to set up a rival cartoon?

: )

Even though the "article" is like three lines long, there's something
to be said for tradition. ;)

Probably all PJ will need to post is links, let ProSCO trigger its own discussion here without any comment necessary.
Betcha they're right on the money about Snopes, though.

Official "The SCO Group" Positions
Authored by: AllParadox on Sunday, October 17 2004 @ 12:09 PM EDT
Main posts in this thread may only be made by senior managers or attorneys for
"The SCO Group". Main posts must use the name and position of the
poster at "The SCO Group". Main posters must post in their official
capacity at "The SCO Group".

Sub-posts will also be allowed from non-"The SCO Group" employees or
attorneys. Sub-posts from persons not connected with "The SCO Group"
must be very polite, address other posters and the main poster with the
honorific "Mr." or "Mrs." or "Ms.", as
appropriate, use correct surnames, not call names or suggest or imply unethical
or illegal conduct by "The SCO Group" or its employees or attorneys.
This thread requires an extremely high standard of conduct and even slightly
marginal posts will be deleted.

P.J. says you must be on your very best behavior.

Will PROSCO be hosted on a Linux server? I guess we'll just have to wait for
    NetCraft to tell us.

I know many Linux user's fancy themselves "hackers" (and I mean that
in the system cracker sense). It would be playing right into SCO's hands if
    someone were to deface prosco.net!

I have never understood why so many Linux users also enjoy hacking - perhaps the
"under-the-hood" nature of the OS makes it irresistable to them. I
personally have had to ban my son from our Linux machine because I caught him
hacking (he can still use Windows if he needs it).

    Ah the humor
Authored by: bbaston on Sunday, October 17 2004 @ 02:11 PM EDT
    shareme boldly and wisely said:
"Mormons and Catholics celebrate Nov1st as all Saints Day"

But this is Satan's site. It will actually come on line a few seconds before All
Hallow's Eve ends, a satanic holiday sadly "celebrated" widely in the
    United States on October 31.

Thus, prosco.net will appear on the devil's day, spun (as unsual) to appear
    respectable, even 'saintly'.

Maybe TSCOG is to Microsoft as Fortunato is to Carpathia!

In any case, there is no religious group that claims TSCOG. Remember that
Mormons have spoken out against Darl McBride (do not have link at moment, will
    search).

Therefore, I expect no offence will be taken by Mormons except those wishing
TSCOG not to be mentioned in polite Mormon company -- or perhaps by any hints
from anyone that there is such an association, which there is not.

    Counter-Toons?
Authored by: Anonymous on Sunday, October 17 2004 @ 02:24 PM EDT
Does it not first require a sense of humor to create a site of humorous nature?
Something I fail to believe SCO has. If you review their current premise of
ProSCO.net which currently only offers 1 side of the view...their side then it
would be safe to assume that their counter toon site would be a single character
    telling him/herself humorous anecdotes right?

I thought their main site was pro SCO and their whole message of their
intellectual property? When all else fails (ie, media pundits, consultants,
propaganda, etc, etc) make a new domain and throw even more investor money to
    the wind.

The absurdity of SCO and their executive decisions...bleh!

    SCO and their mouth...
Authored by: Anonymous on Sunday, October 17 2004 @ 02:34 PM EDT
What has gotten SCO into more trouble lately than anything? Darl's mouth. I
wonder how much of their own "view" will be used against them in a
court of law. The legal department will surely keep a tight reign on their spew
so even they can't say everything they want...then again that hasn't stopped
    Darl. :)

Come November 1st, I imagine the prosco.net website will look something like this:

Hi! My name is Prosco P. Coltrane, and this is my blog, prosco.net!

Welcome one and all, unless you're one of dem dang Open Source "Duke Boys"! Dem Duke Boys has got to be up to something low down, and I'm gonna find out what! [Laughter]

    On Tradition (from typos)
Authored by: allthingscode on Sunday, October 17 2004 @ 06:01 PM EDT
As a comment to the entry for the typos (putting them there as a tradition), I
would to add: except for when there isn't a need for tradition. It's because
some people can't get over tradition that we have the RIAA running around trying
to stop the internet from cutting into their ability to control music flow, when
they couldn't make the music themselves. The same with software. Linux doesn't
fit Microsoft's tradition of software development and distribution.

And yes, I knew he was just being funny. But his statement just seemed to fit
something that has been on my mind for a while.

You can go to snopes.com, search for you favorite urban legend, and it will tell
you whether it's true or not. It will also try to supply some background
information on the legend. I'm not sure snopes's servers could handle all of
the submissions that could be made based on Darl's comments.

PJ says: "I wonder.... will they now decide they have to set up a rival
    cartoon?"

    My question is:

I wonder if SCO will try to set up a rival court system if they don't like the
    verdict(s)?

Incidentally, this is a classic example of where it's a good thing to use a "deep link" in preference to the site's home-page - one day later, and the link is non-sensical. You want this episode to make sense of PJ's post !
