Microsoft is free to fork android and create their own OS that
has a bing bar prominently placed at the very top of the phone
if they want. but that would be political suicide for them, so
they just complain about google instead.

Much easier than cranking up a browser, finding Google's
bookmark, then searching.
I don't even have to do that: on my
Galaxy I can put bookmarks straight onto the screen where the "google search
widget" is - this latter has to open up a browser for the results anyway, so the
choice I have is to "click" on the google seach widget, enter my search and have
the browser open, or "click" on the bookmarked search engine (www.google.co.uk)
of my choice, have the browser open and enter my search (the only real
difference being when the browser opens).
MS and Freesearch real complaint
is that users can configure their own devices NOT to use MS's Bing, etc.
