Bill Gates is out of the picture at MS, it's other people, or another person now.

And, some of them in charge at MS, are computer programmers at all, or technologists (think apple when they kicked Steve Jobs out how they lost their vision). AND those in charge now, are NOT known for being an understanding lot when it comes to common sense and open source. They opt-out of that, instead fighting, for years. Bill Gates had a lot of hired hatchet men, with one, key one, who was effective and dependable, who was a natural at defending Windows, etc. As Bill, who was in charge of the tech, was too busy (really he was), doing the tech end to give the energy that was needed to fighting other tech, someone else with the time and energy needed to do it. Guess what, that war room staffing, is what is left in charge as MS now. ONLY now they are in charge of being "creative"... not, something that they have done before, maybe EVER?

Here is a good look at and example of the non-geek staff at MS, who you are dealing with:

And, so, being creative and embracing Open Source, etc, being NICE, and plaing NICE, with others in the same technology sandbox, do you expect it will happen? Ever?
