It could be as simple as having them all preloaded and a configuration screen
letting the user pick which search they want rather than having Google as a
default. But having it preloaded would might involve others IP so having it
downloaded by the users would let the manufacturers bypass the patents. Or
maybe include a few SD cards with their choices and let them reformat the extra,
or the store can keep the token winphone SD card just in case.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I don't know what the GP meant by "built in", but I consider this
Google Search Bar (top of screen) to be built in. It's there by
default OTB, on the home
screen. There are no settings to hide it, and it
requires root access to uninstall. It was visible
on advertising pictures for
many other makes of phones in past years. I'm not seeing it on
Android 4.x
devices' publicity, so maybe Google has removed insistence for it. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
