When I first came across it I thought it was a brave but amateurish project. Now
that it has matured and I understand the map key (that all maps have) it out
shines Google in many respects. Not only in speed but amenities and other
details are accurately placed. With Google maps, I've often looked for a
restaurant (or what ever) and they have been placed in the next road because the
up-loader didn't get the geo-location right. With OpenStreetMaps the
contributors must be local people because they add more useful and accurate
information (which after all -is what I need). In some areas it even gives house
numbers and recognises zip/postal codes.
It is no wonder that Bing maps Streetmap and Streetfinder is not only afraid ,
but very afraid.
