What if she used her work email as the contact for her private phone?
But anyway, that's irrelevant. The point is, the information enables a 3rd-party
to link the phone account to a recognisable individual. That is personal
information.

The example given is, I imagine, deliberately chosen to illustrate the point
without actually giving away any information that should not be disclosed.
However if I happened to have "mysmalltown.org" as a domain and my
name is an unusual one then
Avery.Rarename@mysmalltown.org
appearing on this list would disclose that one particular individual owns an
ipad. If Avery were applying for a job at M$ ...
The point is that email addresses can be, within the EU, considered as PII that
must be treated as confidential.
