I thought the gloves had come off. Who accused someone of
acting like SCO?
Denial of one vote to an indigent, elderly or minority
person is as bad if not worse than one fraudulent vote. And
by the Republicans' own words, these voter ID laws are
designed to deny votes to such people because they aren't
likely to vote Republican.
Republicans know they are fast becoming a minority. Voter ID
laws are part of their strategy to maintain their access to
power.
You cite problems in Cook County. Those are for the State
of Illinois to deal with without creating roadblocks to
voting for its citizens.
Where I live we have other problems, so I don't need you to
tell me how to participate in the body politic, thank you.
And I stand by the statement that it is possible to
demonstrate that voter fraud has occurred without voter ID.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Studies have been done, and voter fraud isn't
a demonstrable problem of any size.
More votes, I believe, have been stolen by
manipulating voting machines, frankly, or
pretending that a paper ballot isn't clear.
Both parties cheat. They do. But voters
generally don't. That's reality. So, are
you working to fix the voting machines with
the same fervor?
In short, it seems to me that this is a
pretext, maybe not for you but for those
paying to try to pass this kind of
legislation.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
