That was about 15 years ago. It also had to work on Digital
Unix, Solaris, HP/UX, IBM's Unix (can't remember name right
now), IRIX, NextStep and a host of other lesser-
known lights. I can't even remember how far that syntax
worked across that spectrum, let alone how wide the spectrum
was.
Our header files on scripts testing for which OS was running
were quite large.
