Time they were slapped down to set a valuable moral and ethical precedent.

They don't want an international treaty as that will erode their dvd
Region Racket. The don't want any treaty that would restrict their
ability to apply US law anywhere in the world they choose.
MPAA should realise the internet exists on this one planet.
It's not going away soon. If they can't live with it then they should die.

First sale and format shifting, fair use.

Seems to me that upholding the doctrine of first sale and format shifting as a
form of fair use would cover this. From the perspective of the *AA these are
the targets to be taken down.
