Sounds like what you have, hacking accounts and sending spam. From the end of
may and was still on-going.

Has Yahoo had a breakin recently?

How do you know they broke into your account to send spam as
opposed to simply spoofing your email address in the sender
field?

I know two people that had their Yahoo accounts broken into in February.

I looked at the headers, it wasn't spoofing. One of the accounts was a computer professional, and he confirmed that his account was broken into.

Standard operating procedure for Yahoo to
give access to your account to other people.

With the new disastrous sounding policy,
inactive accounts will be reissued after a
year, which presumably means that the new c
owner of the ID will get the former owner's
incoming email (password resets, old
subscriptions etc).

Unfortunately I lost access to my old yahoo
account, so it's a matter of time before
yahoo sells me out to an identity thief.

I actually can't believe a company could act
so irresponsibly, but I guess they are
desperate.
