Just a commentary about assembler.
If you cannot program in PDP-11 assembler, I bet you cannot program in anything.
A more regular and beautiful instruction set I have never seen. I started my
programming career by patching assembler drivers for PDP-11. That tells you how
easy it is.

I think the J11 would be more of a 10 or possibly 5 micron nmos device - that
was the bread and butter around at that time - I was knocking up chips around
then. I seem to remember however that they were not particularly radiation
resistant.
