I remember mr. Quinn
Authored by: Wol on Monday, June 17 2013 @ 11:48 AM EDT
Bear in mind, if I remember my educational theory correctly, the ability to
think abstractly is only acquired at the age of about 14.

And it is now thought that probably a full half, if not more, of the population
never acquire that ability.

So if Mr Quinn is average, there is a good chance he was simply incapable of
comprehending the argument.

Cheers,
Wol

... Didn't get what we were telling him?

Or got frustrated because we weren't buying what he was trying to sell!

I wasn't disillusioned

I fully understood he (and others like him) came here to hone the edge of their arguments.

However - I also knew we would end up honing ours at the same time.

The strength of his arguments lies in complexity - confusing the issue at hand with sufficient complexity one doesn't know what one is listening to.

The strength of our arguments lies in simplicity - and when people clearly see and understand:

They don't much like it when they think they're involved in a game of three-card Monty!
Yup - they honed their arguments - but we got better too. And it appears the Supremes are understanding our reasoning more readily.

:)
