The Founding Fathers, Presidents up to at least the middle of the
19th century, were men of the land, brought up from their mother's
knee to chop wood and plow fields. Today's lawmakers and
administrators go straight from the 'burbs to law-school to
the courts. It shouldn't hurt to introduce a clause into law-school
curricula such that to graduate required seven years post-school
industrial experience. Yes, agriculture is an industry. Some might
even find they liked it better than law, and this would reduce the
drain of litigation on production.
