The description of why the system of collection is dangerous in the Greenwald E dward Snowden interview is very poignant. (Youtube video, 12 1/2 minutes)

I'm reminded of accounts of Daniel Ellsberg releasing the Pentagon Papers, not for the volume of disclosure but rather the reasoning in doing so.

Security, freedom, pick one...or none
Authored by: Imaginos1892 on Monday, June 10 2013 @ 03:32 PM EDT
Last night I saw a clip of Obama trying to explain how all
these intrusive measures are required in order to achieve
"100% Security".

I sat there in shock for more than a minute.

The Secret Service can't provide the President with 100%
security, and the Witness Protection program can't do it
either. Prisoners get or make weapons and kill guards and
each other in maximum security prisons.

So even if we gave up as much freedom as maximum security
prisoners, we still wouldn't have Obama's "100% Security".
None of the media called him on that howler, not even Fox.

I'd ask what he's smoking but he's said he gave that up a
loooong time ago.

They really do want the government to grow, and grow, until
it consumes everything and controls every aspect of our lives.
