That would be a disaster. Just call them what they really are - design
COPYRIGHTS.

They are a branch of TRADEMARK law, intended to avoid customer confusion. Which
is why, under UK (and I presume European) law, the standard is "would an
EDUCATED consumer be confused?".

As such, a ruddy great "Samsung" logo is pretty much going to destroy
any attempt to assert an Apple design patent. Which is why Apple got their arse
served up on a plate in the UK courts.
