Your day job includes another incredible, regularly-practiced skill

As a software developer, we're also required to understand many, many different process flows and be able to develop ways to improve on those processes.

It really is an incredibly interesting skill set we must learn to be good programmers.

There is no doubt in my mind any good programmer can enter any field of business to examine, understand and develop ways to improve on that business field without having to have a formal education in most of them.

It's what we do during our day job every day: exercise the mind!

And... *grin* it must be added:

There's no more elegant code then the simplest code for a specific task!
There are those of us that are very, very good at learning about something till we can simplify it down to it's essence.

How would the lawyer judges act if their field was hampered by copyright and
patents. ( same for political legislation )
Would that cause their arguments and rulings to reach a higher level ? (as in
"to promote the usefull art")

"You can't do that your honour, you have to take a license from me to rule
that sentence over me"
