When it is a bad idea to "expand to corporations seizing private citizens'
items", then it is actually good to prove my point. When does a majority
wake up and change things? Only when they feel the pain personally and all other
options are cut off.

The setup also reminds of a lot of science fiction films, where corporations
rule the world. Each and any of them portray the corporation as evil. The
premise is simple. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. For a
system to change radically, you need to make that corruption obvious to all.
