Yah, yah, yah. College professors, ivory tower trolls, petty programmers of this
or that, loser lawyers, only a few small-time CEO's, If you're so smart, how
come Larry Ellison's yacht is bigger than yours?
And before you ask why Larry needs these beellions of dollars--how's Larry going
to pay for his next yacht if his suit doesn't prosper?

Let me get this straight: You want to see Oracle win and
sue Google for
billions of dollars, which Google will have
to pay whether or not they switch
to a new language. You
want to see Oracle win so Google will be forced to
develop a
new language, even though this will take a couple of years
and has
no guarantee of widespread adoption. You want to see
Google lose and thereby
Android to suffer a terrible
disruption from Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt while
they work
the rest through the appeals and on to final judgement.
All
this just to see a new and unnecessary language? We
already have enough
languages. It takes years for a new
language to be uptaken and adopted and
finally become
popular. A Google loss on this issue will pretty much
destroy
any advantage Android had in the marketplace. It
means then the end of Android
and more particularly, my
favourite phone OS. It mean us being forced to buy
Apple or
Microsoft phones, or RIM, if they survive their own
challenges.
Perhaps you would like a Microsoft phone? [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
