Then I must be misunderstanding the role of Dalvik in the Android system. I had
thought it was similar to the role of Java in other systems, but you seem to be
indicating that it is the heart of Android. Yet Dalvik isn't the kernel, and it
isn't the utilities. Hmmm...
I'm obviously missing the boat in understanding the role of Dalvik.

Not accurate.
Android is all of the parts.
This includes the Linux Kernel, dalvik which is the
runtime for those apps and framework written via
Java source code, and various background processes
written in C mostly.
The 'confusion' is intentional. The attack is via the java
angle, which is the only vector they can attack with.
One could create a different language and framework
that runs via dalvik, and Android2 could come into
existence, making the attack moot.

You are being MICROattacked, from various angles, in a SOFT manner.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
