The comments to the article were not quite so positive as
the ones you
highlight. They begin with: "Assange is a
creep, and it affects how I view his
opinion.", and go on to
a more thoughtful depth from there.
One can
read a review of Eric Schmidt's book here and decide for themselves
what it is about.
Meanwhile, I suggest people read through
the comments to Assange's piece. I
suspect Assange has
been funded by the Microsoft coalition to kill
Google.
In any event, suppose any one of us here writes a vision
on how
to improve the world. That vision will be universally
attacked by those with a
different vision - guaranteed. We
all have different visions. The value in our
views is
realized through dialog. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Does a lot to puncture the "google is
infallible" stereotype
floating around here and elsewhere.
Thanks for insulting
our intelligence. Not one person
here as far as know, and I have been here for
a number of
years, would believe that Google, or any other corporation,
organization, or individual is infallible. Seems to me
people here are mature,
well-informed individuals who try to
see things realistically. For the moment,
however, Google is
doing just fine, standing up to truly mendacious
corporations like Microsoft, Oracle, and Apple while at the
same time coming
down on the right side of things that
matter to us like Open Source. Until
these vastly more
serious threats are defeated, I'll support Google. Of course
we are all responsible to keep our eyes open, and I will
keep mine open, as
they are open now.
Seems to me in your eagerness to promote a "Google
is
evil" view you have overlooked what the current article is
all about. It is
about the fight by Oracle and Microsoft to
take control of APIs. Google is
standing up against them.
Not quite the time and place to lump in and proclaim
Google
is evil. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
