Compaq clean roomed IBM BIOS.

They did not copy the API.

They looked at the IBM BIOS and said "what does it do if I do this",
and then wrote a note to the programming team saying "do this"

What they got was a more efficient not 100% compatible BIOS lookalike.

Yes by the conceptual nature of APIs you get a very similar compatible API, but
Compaq did not copy IBMs API, they re-developed IBMs BIOS.

The distinction is fine, but it is important.

As you say....it is an interesting concept.

Concept is key.

Based on your statements you either don't know or fail to understand that.

Do you not find ad-hominem repulsive? I know I do.
