THEY ARE NOT THE SAME!
Breeding and cross-breeding plants has been done for centuries. _Nature_ decides
what's viable and not viable.
GM _bypasses_ natural selection, by making modifications which nature hasn't had
time to react to. The long term effects are unknown.
Regarding Monsanto:
1. Monsanto couldn't (thanks, Nature) create a Roundup-resistant gene, so they
found Roundup resistant bacteria from their sludge pools. The mere fact that
bacteria could become Roundup resistant seems to escape everyones notice.
2. Monsanto knew that the GM crops would eventually cross breed with non-GM
varieties, thus ensuring a monopoly on that crop.
3. Some of you are too dense to see that their motives are purely monetary: to
sell more Roundup, to monopolize any crop of their choice.
Clearly, public health suffers when the chemical companies (including drug
companies; they make chemicals too) end up controlling the FDA. (this is well
documented)
Take any drug advertised on TV, and research the potential side effects. Many
run a range from mild to serious to death.
Stop buying into Monsantos propaganda. The entire scientific community laughed
at Rachel Carson, and vehemently put her down.
Don't confuse arrogance with expertise.
"...a rationale based upon the premise that collective ignorance is somehow
smarter than individual ignorance
- a case of the arrogant leading the blind." - Stephen Bassett
