Good luck proving that a food, like GMO corn, is dangerous. It might take 20
to 30 years of exposure before toxins accumulate in the body, at which point
they will be almost impossible to definitively trace the toxins to a single food
product.
Also, GMO corn may only be dangerous to a certain group of people
with a previously undetected genetic condition. It could take a great many
people dropping dead before someone thinks to sequence their DNA and look for a
cause that relates to a specific food.
Essentially, adding toxins to food is
a long-term high-stakes guessing game. Some toxins will have long-term
significance, and no one knows which in advance. Worse, even if the danger is
eventually found, governments can be very slow to respond. It took decades to
develop convincing science about the dangers in asbestos and smoking, and
decades more of inaction before anything happened. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
