Back in the early nineties, several studies showed that people who earned at,
or less than the poverty datum line gave the highest percentage of their
income and wealth to charitible organizations --- usually churches.
If Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, or any member of any Fortune 500/Inc 100 company
donated/used the same percentage of income and wealth for a local cause,
such as homelessness, as Pastor Henry Covington, the country would be a

What you define as generosity (giving *more* than you can afford to give) is
more correctly defined as stupidity.
If you give *more* than you can afford to give, then suddenly you are in need of
charity, yourself. Because no system is 100% efficient, you have become a net
drain on the system to which you so 'generously' donated.
True generosity is giving what you can afford to those you think need it.
(Giving to those you *don't* think need it doesn't make much sense either.)[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
