Maybe Billy could reciprocate and distribute a few thousand OLPC's and
Samsungs?

Germs are good for you ...
Authored by: Wol on Tuesday, May 28 2013 @ 06:10 PM EDT
This obsession with cleanliness is unhealthy ...

Okay, I know that many bacteria are bad, but there is a feeling in the general
populace (driven by detergent advertising) that ALL bacteria are bad. The
problem is, if we try to kill all bacteria, it's the bad ones that tend to
survive. Most of us are covered in Staphylococcus Aureus. When we're treated
with antibiotics, the variant that tends to survive is MRSA ... It *used* to be
the case that, absent antibiotics, SA was more "fit" than MRSA and
would crowd it out. Unfortunately, MRSA has evolved and that's no longer true.

If we *encourage* bacteria, very often it's the bad bacteria that get crowded
out. After all, weren't my generation (kids in the 50s and 60s) healthy despite
all our playing in mud and dirt and streams ...

Cheers,
Wol
