Flat Tax
Authored by: Anonymous on Tuesday, May 28 2013 @ 03:49 PM EDT
Thank you Sir for suggesting that. Note that the same rate should be
payable in every place the revenue is earned. And this is where the
problem immediately reveals itself as an incompetence of governments
to collaborate.

How an Apple affiliate made $30 billion and paid no taxes
Authored by: Wol on Tuesday, May 28 2013 @ 06:25 PM EDT
And what should that flat rate be? Personally I think it should be a big fat
ZERO!

PEOPLE should pay taxes - income and consumption (VAT, sales, whatever). And if
we pay tax on share dividends, that provides a sort of corporation tax.

We should also scrap all import tariffs, and replace them with a "currency
export tax". That would provide a pressure for each country to match
imports and exports.

Cheers,
Wol

How an Apple affiliate made $30 billion and paid no taxes

Sounds great? Which country gets to levy this flat tax on gross worldwide
revenue?

If any country gets to levy said tax, then companies will soon be paying *more*
in taxes than they take in in revenue.

If only one country gets to levy said tax, how do you determine which country
gets the money?

If the tax is *shared*, how do you determine which country gets which share?
(And how do you prevent the exact same 'gaming' of *that* set of tax rules, that
you're proposing to fix with *this* one?)
