That's a silly assumption, considering it's not just Samsung
that has been "infringing" these patents. Virtually every
single phone and small and large electronics manufacturer
has infringed it and Apple has never had the inclination to
go after any of them. If for argument's sake these patents
are all meant to be valid, where is Apple's suit against
Sony Ericsson? Nokia? Palm? Why weren't they raised in the
previous Samsung phones?

Heck, the touchscreen directory assistance at your local
refurbished shopping mall/museum/art gallery/zoo/library has
infringed a majority of these patents. When is Apple going
to go after them?

The cynical side of me makes me wonder exactly how many of
these patents are they keeping in the bag for newer phone
releases Apple just can't match up to.

You, personally, have a PC and don't end up not doing anything away from your house.(grin)

Nothing wrong with it, but the digerati are often riding in someone else's car
or stuck someplace awaiting a ride -- like the robotics kids googling for
answers in the back seat as two mentors in front idly wondered about some
question on the two hour drive back home from a Tournament.

It is both a different mindset and circumstances...and smartphones make
really good media and game playing devices.

So Samsung is evil just because they could be.....

Do you drive a car? You could easily use that car to deliberately kill someone by running them over. Are you guilty of such a crime?

Perhaps instead of considering the possibilities, we should stick to discussion of the actual facts of the case as they turn up.

As a result, please provide your evidence that Samsung made such a decision. I'm sure the Apple team of Lawyers would love to present that for purposes of trebble damages as well as a greater chance for an injunction.
