Any effort to make the user experience better than the base OS
must come at a cost. I suppose the hardware nowadays is,
like these programmers, a whole generation ahead of the last
time they tried this. So now nobody remembers Java apps that
would "run" (more like snail crawl) on any OS. And it wasn't
just speed, native apps just seemed to do more tricks.
