The source for SmartSuite, or 1-2-3, or what?
Lotus released specs for the 1-2-3 file format; for quite a while, it was the de
facto standard spreadsheet format.
After SmartSuite Millenium Edition, IBM discontinued Lotus (though you can still
buy a license, it's not developed and not recommended). Instead, they moved to
Lotus Symphony, which was a highly modified office suite based on
StarOffice/OpenOffice code they licensed from Sun.
This apparently included some work on import filters.
After OpenOffice was donated to the Apache Project (was that a sop to make up
for suing over Harmony-based code?), IBM discontinued Symphony and donated the
code to Apache OO.
The latest releases of Apache OO include some of this code; LO may be
integrating it by now.
I don't know if the import filters were included, or what the status of the
merge is.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
