Not really a valuable peice of information...

as there is nothing stoping you from using a throwaway email address, may I
suggest hotmail for such a service. Note that I don't debate putting a notice up
about it is a bad idea, just isn't really a 'pay' wall.

A warning is a good idea

The problem with signing in is it places a cookie on your
computer. I dislike giving sites that require me to sign in
to read a page a cookie as a lot of them use it to track you.
Granted I could just delete the cookie, but we are now
jumping through hoops to just read something.

Google Loses in Germany
Authored by: Anonymous on Wednesday, May 15 2013 @ 02:11 AM EDT
My meagre German understanding crawled ashamedly to Google translate.
It appears that the court groks the concept of Google's link rated
algorithm for making the auto-complete suggestions. However
if it throws up results that falsely victimize the subject of a little
known search term, and the victim complains, then Google -must-
fix it.

>> The operator of a search engine is not regularly required to verify
the generated by a software search addenda general advance for possible
breaches. The operator is generally responsible only when it becomes
aware of the unlawful violation of the personal rights. <<
[Google translate]

Google is the wizard of its own algorithms, so it should be easy ...
