Most folk seem not to know how the CPU operates to carry out the operations.
Detailed information on is not needed but it can be presented in simplified
form. I know because I was taught that way.

A jump or branch instruction simply modifies, or does not
modify, the Program Counter register, by adding to or
replacing its current contents. The CPU may also store the
current P.C. register contents in memory to be retrieved
later - branch/jump to subroutine. All Boolean Algebra.
