for Prenda, disbarment might be overly optimistic
Authored by: mcinsand on Wednesday, May 08 2013 @ 04:08 PM EDT
The respective state bar associations that the Prenda people are facing might
well be the least of their worries. In fact, I would think that hoping for only
disbarment might be an unrealistic best case. Judge Wright has also referred
them for RICO and IRS CID investigation, complete with forensic accountants.
Given that Prenda has been anything but forthcoming on chain of ownership,
client relationships, and financial interests, it's safe to say that something
fishy is going on. Furthermore, IRS CID is nothing like the regular IRS that we
normally talk about and deal with. Although most of us dread an audit, general
auditors are decent people, and the goal is accuracy, rather than just getting
more money out of the taxpayer. When CID calls, though, it's time to bite nails
and maybe even shake a bit.

Prenda says new lawsuits". Yep. How gutsy can you get? It should only be what, days before every court is notified?
