MS offering $1b for Nook Media LLC

Notice how the bully always seems to have candy or toys
to buy off any unwanted parties ...

Now honestly, if you were B&N would you take the money and run?

Desperation Move

Microsoft has no meaningful presence in Mobile (tablets or phones), nor in
eBook readers. Buying market share is a desperation move.

Let's say they redesign the Nook to take Windows Phone 8. Bang, the price
goes up because the OS is a resource hog, and the customers buy
something else.

They keep Android? That would be admitting Windows can't cut it.

They resurrect Windows CE. Might work, if they stuck tiles on top, and
pretended it was a stripped down 8 for eReaders. Might.

Microsoft has a ton of off-shore cash, a lot of which is in Ireland. If they can

use the off-shore money, even if they paid double, the transaction could
work for them.

But would it work for Barnes and Noble?
