Not all added ui elements had good reasons to be there. For example allowing
your mouse pointer to leave a trail behind it? Useless bloat (except it works
around a mouse cursor bug bug or two but that's not a valid UI design feature
when the bug was certainly discovered well after implementation of the
'workaround').
