Microsoft stock shoots up -- boost from open source?
Authored by: Anonymous on Monday, May 06 2013 @ 01:55 PM EDT

Surprise of the last few weeks is the spike in Microsoft shares. But it's not because of Windows.

It may be that Azure, Microsoft's cloud service, is impressing investors, with revenue breaking the $1 billion level. One reason: open source, including Hadoop. And 20% of the development on Azure is not Windows-based.

Microsoft going for relief from Google for relocation to the Netherlands
Authored by: Anonymous on Monday, May 06 2013 @ 05:22 PM EDT
Maybe this is missed by most, but last week there was a short article on webwereld.nl saying that Microsoft is suing Google for 15 million US dollars due to the fact that when they were in trial in Germany with Motorola, the took the action to relocate from Germany to the Netherlands. This action was taken to prevent the possible outcome that Microsoft could not use Germany as a base to distribute goods. So, I take evasive action, now I sue for the cost I made. What can I call this kind of action, trolling? Sorry, the article is in dutch, and only one source, so it may be a hoax.

On lawyer quality and justice...
Authored by: rcsteiner on Tuesday, May 07 2013 @ 01:22 AM EDT
I'm starting to wonder if the apparently large impact that can be made by a star
legal team actually represents a core weakness in our system.

If winning a high profile case requires high powered lawyers with high level
expenses, what does that say about the influence that money has on quality of
justice?
