Android security

I'm not aware of any significant amount of in the wild malware
that attacks native Android systems. The vast majority of it is
Trojans, downloaded and installed by, and under the full control
of the user. Perhaps unknowingly, depending the amount of
social engineering involved. This is Google's problem if it
came from the aptly named Play Store. Otherwise would you
like to see them attempt to ban sideloading?

There is another category that relies on the kewlness of rooting
your phone. Those with rooted devices are also deemed to have
their eyes open. Unfortunately some of them have their minds closed.
Again nothing much Google can do about that.

The other side of the coin

The other way to look at it is that Intel have decided to compete with ARM on price. Intel were able to push AMD over the edge because AMD were financially over committed. Intel bought exclusive deals that gave them economies of scale and left AMD with idle foundries.

This time, Samsung and Apple have their own ARM chips, and no reason to switch to Intel. Intel will not get the same economies of scale, so their costs will be higher. To compete on price, Intel will have to burn cash - which they can afford to do for years. The small cheap computer is on its way back.
