Kneejerk law
Authored by: Wol on Friday, April 26 2013 @ 11:22 AM EDT
is bad law.

Who cares if it was written after 9/11. I don't think we wrote law like after
7/7.

But then, that's politicians for you - they have to be seen to be doing
something. And rewriting the dictionary is, imho, a rather stupid thing to be
doing.

I think we're really going to miss our House Of Lords when the progressives
finish gutting it of the mission it served for most of last century. EVERY
government should have a bunch of people, chosen mostly by historical accident,
who's purpose in life is to go through legislation with a fine toothcomb and
make sure that it actually makes sense! And is written in a language that is
comprehensible to the man in the street! (As others have said, if a car can
reasonably be fitted into the legal description of a WMD, what hope is there ...
and no I don't mean what we've seen over here - a car with half a ton of semtex
in the boot ...)

Cheers,
Wol
