I'm still trying to figure out what it means, and where I
came up with it. :-(
Maybe I'll go take a nap now.

Think your 'unintentional' doing a disservice PJ to all those other people
that don't have 9-to-5 jobs. Off-duty law enforcement offices, medics,
firemen, and many, many other non-productive personnel leap into action the
moment they realise their skill are needed-here-and-now-at-this-very-moment!..
They seldom get any financial recompense for this – unlike this reporter, who
probably got well rewarded for her on the spot 'exclusive'. After all, she was
only attending a wedding, and as an upwardly mobile Chinese woman, the first of
many. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Okay, I got this from a 2-year-old magazine I acquired on Freegle (Freecycle to
the Americans), but I suspect it'll interest the photographers here.
What caught my attention in the article was the photographer talking about Cory
Doctorow. How he did an interview two years earlier, and in three years he earnt
about £200 on that photo. Then he did another portrait and, hearing about how
Cory had made thousands giving his book away for free he discussed how this
could work for a photographer.
So, with the photo he took of Cory this time, he put the original image up on
the web for free, but did 110 signed prints. Put together with a 110 signed
copies of the manuscript, that netted him £2000 for a single project ...
How can you make money giving stuff away? This photographer is now a convert,
and while his experience with Cory wasn't the cause or trigger, it was for him a
conclusive demonstration that it works.
Cheers,
