As of 1960 we spoke the closest living approximation of Elizabethan English in
the area.

Spanish and Russian. IIRC, the Germany weekly is still being published
there.

Whilst the United States is the home of people with the world's most
severe case of monolingualism, it does have a number of
immigrants/temporary residents who prefer the news in their native, non-
English language.
