First there has to be some kind of recognition on the Legal front that they can be held liable.

Patent Office Liability Insurance
Authored by: Steve Martin on Thursday, April 18 2013 @ 06:48 AM EDT

Hope the US Patent Office has enough liability insurance to cover all losses when a company gets sued and looses big on a patent that never should have been granted.

I frankly hope that is not the case. With all the litigation going on, I would not want such insurance payments to be coming out of my pocket as a taxpayer.

Liability? Its an asset...

The USPTO is a for-profit rubber stamping outfit. The more bogus patents they
issue, the more money they make.

No liability, just doing their job.
