As she has adopted America as her home, she must feel the need
to justify her conviction to show that the US court system is superior to that
of her forebears by defending the the American Credo.
If one
were to google 'Lucy Koh judge' and you were logged in to Google, you'd likely
see a results page with summary under a vignette excerpt of her official court
photo, along with the several pertinent facts, including that she was born in
Washington, D.C. in 1968 and attended Harvard Law. Adding 'harvard law' to the
search would demonstrate she received her law degree there in 1993.
And I
must admit while native to the United States myself I'm curious as to the
etymology of 'forbears' versus 'forebearers' both of which are found in Merriam
Webster's, having a preference for the latter despite the Wordlady. The usage of 'forebearers' appears to be uniquely
American and was used by the sitting President in his 2009 inaugural address.
