I had an experience today - Windows prints faster than linux!
I tried to print 26 copies of a letter - one page. You could *see* the printer
pause and wait between each copy. That was from linux.
I printed a two-page duplex pdf to the same printer from Windows (actually a VM
on the same linux box). The printer ran flat out and produced these documents
*faster* than the letters.
Actually, that gave me the clue as to what was happening. Rather than do what
Windows did - print the document once with a repeat count of 26, CUPS printed
the document 26 times!
Which meant when I tried to cancel the print job it didn't work and wasted
masses of paper on top of wasting masses of time. Lesson learned - don't make a
mistake when printing multiple copies on linux - it's a nightmare to fix :-( To
make matters worse, my wife's illness means such mess-ups are common :-(
Cheers,
