The entire educational publishing system is designed to bring huge profits to
the publisher. History books with minor discriptive phrase changes, health
books with such minor changes as going from sucking his thumb to a passifer,
there are many examples. The campus book stores help contribute to the problem
by buying used books (but only those that are not changed for the next term)
thus creating a market for themselves and a scarsity for new students. Teachers
or administrators who force the newest version of a text to be required. It's
all about the money, not the information.
