better metaphor
Authored by: Anonymous on Monday, April 15 2013 @ 07:57 AM EDT
The gold-from-the-ground metaphor used by the ACLU is not a
particularly bad one, but a better one would be the leaf on a
tree. If you extract the leaf from an oak tree using blades
or chemicals, it's still an oak tree leaf.

Re: "We the People" petition
Authored by: glennjones130486 on Monday, April 15 2013 @ 05:33 PM EDT
Not sure where else to put this, but unfortunately the number PJ referred to as
the number of people who signed the petition (> 99,000) is actually the
number of people still required in order to reach the threshold for it to be
considered.

There are actually only between 200 and 300 signatures, as of this post.

That said, it's too early to get discouraged. Despite initial sceptics
(including me), the open access petition created positive results:

p19 "dictated dictated" -> "dictated"
Authored by: Ronny on Tuesday, April 16 2013 @ 09:18 AM EDT
On page 19, text version has:

MR. HANSEN: The sequence of the nucleotides is dictated dictated by nature. The
order that they go in is dictated by nature.

In the PDF version the word "dictated" is not doubled:

11 MR. HANSEN: The sequence of the nucleotides
12 is dictated by nature. The order that they go in is
13 dictated by nature.
