Potentially, if THEY own patents on YOUR genes, you may need a patent license to be allowed to USE and REPLICATE your own genes, i.e. live. Cells replicate all the time, as part of the body's repair processes, as well as during reproduction and growth.

You will see how this could go, under a draconiam regime which may emerge, propped up by a grossly over-complex legal system. Pay the licence fee to some scumbags like Monsanto, or be put down....

Insulin

There are already patents and regulations on some insulin
production techniques. Lantus and Novolog are rDNA products.
In the case of Lantus, the original patent has (I believe)
expired, but no other producers are allowed because of other
government regulations on the genetic technique.
