How about a conterclaim: predatory antitrust claims.
There are literally hundreds of free Linux distributions. The open-source model
has proven itself, and is now widespread. Apple refuses to play and keeps its OS
to itself. There are a couple specialty OSs that are licensed for embedded
devices, but otherwise, the only major OS maker who is locked into the
over-priced commercial model is Microsoft.
Microsoft could get with the times and open-source Windows, or even release it
under a greatly relaxed license, and many industry analysts have been saying
this would be a good move for years. (And current reviews of Windows 8 suggest
this may be the only thing that will keep it relevant...)
This isn't about 1 company (google) trying to undermine everyone else with below
cost pricing, its about 1 company (Microsoft) trying undermine the entire market
with bogus complaints to maintain their obsolete business model.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

If giving away software is wrong then this should apply to other areas as well.
For example broadcast Radio and TV. The programs are given away for free. This
is anti-competitive against the cable and subscription radio and TV companies.
In restaurants it is common for water to be given away for free, this is
anti-competitive against the bottled water and other drinks manufacturers.

The full statement:
Since it acquired Sun in 2010, Oracle has
been the primary sponsor of two important open source projects, Java and
MySQL
What it fails to indicate is that Oracle appears to be
attempting to scuttle both those projects.
My humble opinion on Oracle's
behavior of course.
Presumably, Oracle wouldn't want this practice
declared anticompetitive by European bureaucrats.
Actually, if my
opinion is correct then Oracle would want that. It could give them the excuse
they need to close the open source doors on both projects.
