CBC: PC sales plunge as Windows 8 flops
Authored by: Anonymous on Thursday, April 11 2013 @ 05:39 AM EDT

Windows 8 has a completely new look and forces users to learn new ways to control their machines.
That's the reason for UEFI: to prevent users trying other OSs and finding that the learning curve is much smaller (especially in getting everyday things done).

"Unfortunately [sic], it seems clear that the Windows 8 launch not only didn't provide a positive boost to the PC market, but appears to have slowed the market,"
The first hint that MS's monopoly tactics may be failing.

Ballmer's Bane
Authored by: Anonymous on Thursday, April 11 2013 @ 12:35 PM EDT
His "One Ring to Rule them All" is still trying to work out a few
kinks, not the least of which is explaing why people should cough up wads of
cash for something that turns a perfectly good computer into a toad.

Meanwhile the wizard Google has released the "Android Ring Making Kit"
and Frodo Torvalds keeps upgrading his "Open Ring", a free ring kernel
that can be customised by anyone.

MS *WILL* disappear
Authored by: Wol on Thursday, April 11 2013 @ 07:44 PM EDT
IBM didn't because customers needed mainframes and kept on buying.

People don't need MS, don't want MS, and will only buy if they have to. As sales
collapse, MS will follow it, and there's a good chance they will implode and be
broken up in a fire sale.

Cheers,
Wol
