...where is the opensource Reader replacement?

Were you meaning why hasn't google released one? They're under no obligation to do so. But there are some available. I searched F- Droid.

Looks like NewsBlur is a good possibility.

Feedly is what I've heard most users are switching to, but it's not open source.

FWIW, I run CyanogenMod nightlies on my Galaxy Nexus and I don't need Google services or apps at all for it to be functional. But it's still Android.

K-9 Mail can even connect to a GMail account so I can get google mail without having any google apps installed.

It's not hard to get CM running but for the less technical folkds, I wish some provider would sell phones pre-loaded with CyanogenMod. The fact that they COULD if they wanted to kind of makes this whole anti-trust complaint look silly imho.

Not a problem. If I were going to buy
a mobile phone, I'd seriously think about
a Blackberry.
