Microsoft beware: Google brings Quickoffice to Android & the iPhone

But can it handle Open Document Format (ODF) files??? I do not own or use MS
Orifice for my own needs, only when required for my clients. ODF capability is
important to me, and I would hope it is to Google also.

Notice link.

It's too bad they can't/won't see that software patents are based on an illusion and so long as they continue to maintain the illusion, the quality of such patents can never improve.

Because no matter which wording they try and use to preserve "some" software patents, said wording will be easily arguable to be applicable to "all" software patents.

Novell exec plots company's return
Authored by: JamesK on Wednesday, April 10 2013 @ 03:24 PM EDT
"To hear Flynn tell it, Novell lost its way as a public company in part
because of pressures from investors."

This illustrates the big problem with business these days. People are so
focused on short term profit, the next quarter etc. that they lose sight of the
bigger picture and do things that are harmful to the company and economy over
the long term. This sort of thinking has led to the decrease in R&D in
recent years and also the shift of capital extensive business, such as building
hard drives, CPUs and memories to Asia. This has resulted in a huge loss to the
western economies. Until people shift away from the short term vision, the
economy as a whole will continue to decline.
